FILMMAKING: Making Do with What You've Got

Yes, I can fix an aircraft carrier with bubble gum, a paper clip, and a shoe lace. How does one gain this ability? Not being able to afford what I need, or not having the resources. Here I will tell you some ways to make do with what you've got when its not enough.

Ever been filming and realized that some piece of equipment

Monday!  Monday - man do I love Mondays! I really do. Sunday - another story - Sunday is always the day that provides a bit of angst for me as an #extremeindie filmmaker. Reason being - when you are your own boss - when you are building your own career - your own company - Sunday is just another work day  - it's that way because - that's what

Actors Tip: Typecasting and Judgement

ACTORS TIP: TYPECASTING and JUDGEMENT

There are many fears I have as an actor. Many. Am I talented enough, pretty enough, gutsy enough, tough enough (I know, I'm starting to sound like that one Rolling Stones song right now) but seriously. Lots. I consider myself a fairly confident person. pretty secure in who I am. I think as an actor - you have to be secure - because with all the "No's" you will hear - if you aren't secure in your ability - and youself - well then, you'll probably just give up - or jump off the nearest cliff. lol.

DAY 055: MAKING THE THRILLER FILM *****

I sincerely hope all the members of the site that are following and supporting the movie by being members here - thoroughly  enjoyed the newsletter that was sent out last night. FILMMAKING: Networking and Making Connections

This business is so much about who you know you have got to find out what your networking opportunities are. Though I've only started this pursuit in recent years I've learned there are many places, in "Regulartown USA," where you can make connections.

MOVIE CHAT: KICK-ASS!

 MOVIE CHAT: KICK-ASS!
I watch movies constantly, and one of my favorite things to do for a night out is to catch a new movie. Last night I saw Kick-Ass!!

I'd like to start by saying - that was the most fun I've ever had buying movie tickets... "2 for KICK-ASS please!" It was sweet - and based on the look on the ticket boys face - I think he thought I was a little overly excited - but screw it - I was! Giddy like a little kid in a toy store!

DAY 047: MAKING THE THRILLER FILM *****

As I forge along in the pre-production stage of the movie - a lot of you e-mailed me asking about the storyboard program I am using. Below is two videos covering my thoughts on the program I'm using -

FILMMAKING: Getting a Start

It was only (already?) four years ago when I made the decision to start editing video. It's been a lifelong dream to make movies, but let's just say as a reality it wasn't an option until then, to cut to the chase.

MOVIE CHAT: TV ON PAR WITH FILMS?

I am a huge fan of movies - obviously. Movies are the reason I fell in love with this profession in the first place. The way movies effected my life and created memories that will last a lifetime. For almost every time in my life - I can associate a movie with it that will bring back thousands of memories - good and bad. I see movies every chance I get - however - with the schedule I keep, and the cost of movies - I find it harder and harder to make it to the theater as often as I would like - and have found myself instead turning on the good old TV on my short breaks - and I have discovered something....

MOVIE CHAT: An Education and Daddy Issues

Well - I finally had the pleasure of watching 'An Education'. I hadn't heard much about this film until the Oscars - I think I saw the preview for it, but then sort of forgot about it - but after the Oscars - I was bound and determined to see this movie! I love any movie that involves a sexy older man and a young woman with Daddy issues ;)

MOVIE CHAT: WHY I LOVE MOVIES... AND YOU?

This morning - before I head out to the gym and grab an hour of workout to clear/relax the brain - I think back on what I love about movies - why I work these hours on this art.... what drives me so - to feel such passion for something.....
.....one reason for sure is:    I love stories.     Love them.
