ACTORS TIP: It's getting closer...

We officially started moving out of the edit studio as of yesterday - and I couldn't help but get giddy at the thought of what's happening - we're packing to head off and film a movie! I can't wait to get to Oklahoma and start building the set and start getting to physically be "in" the world I'll be living and acting in.

Now, this may sound strange - but besides physically - I've already started making small changes in my personality and my lifestyle to start feeling more like the character in the movie I'll be playing:Tank -  and it's so freeing! See, all my life I've been the type of person who cared a lot what people think of me. I'd never leave the house with my hair a mess or without my makeup on. I always had to be presentable - and I guess it was my way of feeling accepted. Even going to the gym - which didn't happen often back then - I would make sure my clothes were just right - my hair - tight in a ponytail with hairspray so I didn't have any wispy hair sticking out. I felt that if I didn't look good - people would judge me. Make fun of me - or - I don't know. Anyway - point being - it was this inner fear of just being myself and being ok with that which I lived with.

ACTORS TIP: Longevity....a lost art?

Back in the day - it seems like once you "made it" as an A-list actor - you were golden. You had a career that would last and people couldn't wait to see your films. Hell - most of the greats are still making films and winning awards (Meryl, De Niro, Clint Eastwood etc.) But today - longevity is a lost art. With all the media outlets to learn about our favorite stars - we can access information about them at any given time - and when a star 'takes off' it seems there is a feeding frenzy that happens with fans and the media and they are shoved in our faces 24 hours a day - no mystery. We can find anything from what their favorite food is to how they spend their weekends - all with the click of a mouse. Hollywood stars weren't always as accessible - and I think the mystery is what kept people interested and always wanting more.

ACTORS TIP: Male Nudity...what's the big deal?

I've noticed lately that more and more movies/television shows (and I'm not talking porn here) are showing male nudity - and while it is happening more frequently - it seems this is still not considered "acceptable" or "normal" - while female nudity is perfectly fine. Why is that?

ACTORS TIP: INSPIRED

As of today - still no script in hand. As I wait impatiently - I have been reading this blog written by a female marine that I have found fascinating to say the least.

ACTORS TIP: SHARING THE EXPERIENCE

SHARING THE EXPERIENCE

Since I learned we were going to be making this horror film - I've been thinking about the best way to share my experince as the actor with you all from start to finish. I really enjoy writing blogs and sharing how I feel - but I think I've come up with an even better way to really give you an in depth, behind the scenes look of what an actor goes through/does to prepare for a primary role in a film....

ACTORS TIP: ANTICIPATION and PREPARATION

ANTICIPATION and PREPARATION

Ah the joys of landing a role/job! No better feeling in the world IMO than getting the part! Well, except maybe the feeling of being on set ;)

Actors Tip: Typecasting and Judgement

ACTORS TIP: TYPECASTING and JUDGEMENT

There are many fears I have as an actor. Many. Am I talented enough, pretty enough, gutsy enough, tough enough (I know, I'm starting to sound like that one Rolling Stones song right now) but seriously. Lots. I consider myself a fairly confident person. pretty secure in who I am. I think as an actor - you have to be secure - because with all the "No's" you will hear - if you aren't secure in your ability - and youself - well then, you'll probably just give up - or jump off the nearest cliff. lol.

ACTORS TIP: WHAT'S UP WITH YOUR FACE?

So for this blog - I want to spend a little time talking about headshots. I want to start first by saying that I speak from experience. I’ve worked for a top agent in hollywood, and I know how vital a good headshot is to get your foot in the door.

It's V I T A L.

ACTORS TIP: AUDITION DISCUSSION

In the video below - you will see an audition I recently gave for a webseries. I wanted to share this with you and spend a little time discussing the audition process. Notice the length. This is often the case with auditions - they move very quickly leaving you very little time to “impress” - so make it good. The day of your audition
