MOVIE FAN CHAT: Crazy Heart, It's Complicated and more...

Hope all had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!!  We did.  Didn't do much but enjoyed all the same.  We rented Crazy Heart and Its Complicated.  Enjoyed both.  Jeff Bridges did a brilliant job as the main character.  A very intimate portrayal of the life of a singer on the road, or at least a "has been" once popular but now broke singer who drinks too much, but still travels the circuit, only now it is carnivals, old bars, and fairs, etc.

Jeff Bridges has always been a favorite actor of mine.  He was never as big as the "in" crowd but he was consistent with his roles and with his mastery of the acting world.  He varied his roles and he always seemed to give it his all.  Can't ask for much more than that.  Colin Farrell was good in his role too.  There is something dirty and mean looking about him.  Not that he is but his persona suggests it all the time. I never am able to see him as compassionate or kind.  He may be, but I would be leery.  Its Complicated was a nice movie to watch during a weekend holiday.  Little silly but fun to watch.  I was glad Meryl ended up with the right guy!!  At least the one I had picked out.

You know, the movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona with Javier Bardem?  That was a love story I loved.  Of course you can't beat the setting, Barcelona and surrounding areas, and the story was great.  Different but that is what I liked about it.  Crazy people who like love, sex, and getting to know one another.  Hope to see more like this.  Of course Woody Allen was involved and I hate that but can't deny I like his movies, or at least most of them.  I swore I would not help make him money due to the marriage to his step daughter but can't help myself.  I like his movies.

Until Tomorrow!!

  1. I want to see Crazy Heart too - I just haven't been in the mood lately for a "heavy" movie like that - I but I will definitely rent it.

I LOVED Vicky Cristina Barcelona! It was so shocking to me to see Javier Bardem in that role after No Country for Old Men. My goodness - he was sexy! lol And of course I love both of the female actresses - especially Scarlett - the more films of hers I see - the more I like her. And I agree - it wasn't your typical love story - which made it more interesting to me. And it also made me want to travel to Barcelona! haha.
